Micro trends that did not kick off this summer but stuck around for fall.
Denim Dresses & Jumpsuits
Denim is trending and we saw it come on the scene in dress form later in the season. The denim dress has been revamped and the style has been modernized and updated. This versatile and comfortable item is a fitting alternative to your favorite pair of jeans. A great way to transition denim dresses from summer to fall is by layering over a top and styling with boots or booties. Jumpsuits were also a big hit this fall. The trend evolved from the structured denim dresses seen in the summer season to full-on jumpsuits for fall. Vintage 80’s washed is really in right now, along with structured silhouettes. For a chic retro look, combine this style with white leather boots.
Shirt Dress
The shirtdress is a silhouette that is going to remain popular into the fall. The casual, simple design inspired by menswear can be dressed up or down and easily accessorized. When you don’t know what to wear, this staple is a one piece wonder to instantly add polish and create an effortless ensemble. If you wearing a shorter length, try adding leggings for an on trend outfit. Look for them in a variety of fabrics, lengths, and trending colors.
Matching Knitwear Sets
Another part of this practical dressing trend that is part of the New Normal in this Covid -19 world is dressing for practicality and comfort, and what can be easier than matching sets. Matching sets were a big trend this past summer. By late August they started popping up in summer sets in a variety of silhouettes. From oversize sweaters combined with hot pants style/mini shorts to boho-inspired sets consisting of flared pants and crocheted crop tops. Around the very end, we even began to see knitwear inspired bra tops. The trend has evolved for Fall and is here to stay. From chunky knits to rib knits and argyle, this winter there is no shortage of sweater sets to suit everyone’s taste.
Lingerie
Our next trend is borrowed from the boudoir. Lingerie is stepping out of the bedroom and crossing over into fashion as part of everyday elements to incorporate into our wardrobes. Intimate articles of underwear such as camisoles and bodysuits, often accented with satin and lace are now being worn from the inside out and meant to be visible. Along with these, a beloved undergarment that still reigns supreme is the strappy bralette that is often seen peeking out from under our sweatshirts. This was a big hit this summer. This fall the look has evolved even further into the slip dress. A silhouette that has graced the runway the last several seasons. However, this fall slip dresses came back in a huge way, combined with a boudoir feel equipped with lace lingerie, which gives the feeling of a camisole peeking out from underneath. If you are more of the modest type, you can still embrace this sexy trend with some smart yet subtle styling. A cami under a blazer, layering a sweater or cardigan over a slip dress, or wearing a bodysuit with jeans are a few ways you can still try out this trend.
Square Toed Shoes
Dressing wouldn’t be complete without considering footwear. After all, it is the last detail to finalizing our OOTD. This 90’s throwback trend was hot during summer and is going to continue well into the Fall. Replacing the traditional rounded shape we know and love, the geometric square toe is taking space as the focus we will be sliding our feet into for the foreseeable future. Adapting for the fall now with boots and closed toe shoes you can expect to see this one around a while. For shoe lovers, this is definitely a style you want to add to your collection.
Polka Dots
Polka dots have been appearing on everything recently from clothing to accessories. This classic fun print never goes out of style and will still be prevalent as we move into the cooler months. Adding a touch of this whimsical design is an easy way to bring this trend into your closet.
