Bold Accessories to Rock This Summer
To complete any outfit, you need great accessories. In Spring, as we peel off the layers and let more skin show, there is ample opportunity to showcase these accent items that pull the whole look together. Read on to find out what the biggest accessory trends are going to be and how to wear them!
Gold Jewelry
The metal of choice seen mostly on the runways was in the gold family including brass and copper. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, and even accent hardware on handbags and shoes prominently had this warm-toned alloy. Matte and shiny finishes were featured as well as a variety of smooth and hammered textures. There was no shortage of shapeshifting and abstract malleable designs clearly signaling that yellow gold will be the dominant metal over others this season.
Long Necklaces
Gone for now are the small and dainty necklaces we used to wear. The new style is long pendant necklaces. Strands like this are great to use for a layered look with varying lengths and some even have adjustable chains. Pendants include everything from gemstones and charms to disks and talismans. Longer-length necklaces also offer several benefits. They draw the eye down giving you a taller appearance. These work well with many looks and easily go from day to night. It’s a universal piece to incorporate into your jewelry box that’s effortless and elevates any outfit.
Letter Necklaces
Initials are a mainstay and if you love wearing your monogram there will be plenty of options available from high street to luxury designer styles. The dangling single pendant goes with everything and it’s a perfect personal touch of jewelry.
Tote Bags
If you love big bags, this next trend is for you. Totes will be the IT bag of the season with their cavernous space to hold all your essentials. Market, book, and straw versions are just some of the styles that covered the catwalks during the designers’ latest shows. We typically find these practical carryalls appear as the weather warms because the silhouette is a great storage vessel to transport your necessities and the wide shoulder straps are comfortable.
Pointed Toe Shoes
The pointy toe is back. Pumps, loafers, mules, and more are being reshaped. With an angled front toe box, pointed-toe shoes are flattering on the foot and can help create balance and proportion. They also elongate the leg line adding the illusion of height which makes you look taller. Pointed-toe shoes are especially good for dressing up an outfit.
Ballerina Flats
Our next trend up are ballerina flats. Inspired by the namesake worn in dance classes, this versatile style is easy to wear and tends to make the style rounds every few years. Choosing a flattering shape displays a canvas to expose some skin. With an equal balance between open and closed shoes you have the best of both without needing to worry about a pedicure!
Slipper Shoes
For those not ready to commit to going back to wearing shoes just yet, you’re not alone. The comfort trend is very much still present and proving that is the slipper shoe trend. Major designers had this fluffy footwear everywhere. The look and style of your favorite house slippers are now upgraded and meant to take the comfort with you and be worn outside.
Multi Loop Sandals
Sandals this year are getting a different look and it’s all in the details. Multi toe loops and intricate straps are the key elements for the summer shoes we love to wear. Get your pedicures prepared because toes will be on full display when stepping out in this style.
Gladiators
We are loving the gladiators that are appearing across the runways! Slipping into some open strappy sandals give off major Greek Goddess vibes. Ankle straps and ties on shoes are really being highlighted too which is not only a fashionable detail but it has added function to secure your foot.
Charms and Pendants
In case you missed the explosion on Instagram, we’ll fill you in. French jewelry designer Marie Lichtenberg’s sensation has taken over the picture platform with her enamel charm jewelry. The vintage antique inspired stations are attached to cords and chains that are ideal for layering. She drew influence for the intricate art and vibrant combination of colors from jewel tones of India and meanings from the heart and soul. If you’re able to get your hands on a piece from this collection grab it quick because it consistently sells out of stock.
Chains and Bangles
It is worth noting that some of the trends from last year are still going strong. Chain links still had a big presence and will carry over into this year too. Chains in jewelry, footwear, and handbags are playing a big role in accessories. Going along with that are also bangles and bracelet stacking. Chloe did plenty of this on the catwalk combining organic statement pieces and topping multiple embellished loops on each other for a look full of arm candy.
