Tie-Dye Summer 2021 Trend
Tie-Dye is that quintessential summer pattern that seems to reinvent itself every year, and it’s bigger than ever this season. It’s a favorite we love and keep coming back for. This is a definite staple to have in your closet when things start heating up. With summer around the corner and restrictions being lifted, the season is near and we’re ready to add a little bit of sunshine and whimsicalness back into our wardrobes. I don’t know about you, but after a year of staying home, I for one am sick of wearing sweats! I am ready to trade in my work-from-home uniform and incorporate a little bit of life back into my closet.
What better way to step back out into the world than with these whimsical Tie-Dye pieces from Zara? They really capture the vibe of now. This season’s Tie-Dye takes on a more modern approach to color, with hues reflecting the uplifting mood of the moment, a NYFW color-trend introduced by Pantone, earlier this year. Unlike the rainbow-colored Tie-Dye pieces seen in seasons past, this iteration takes on more of a sophisticated meets contemporary approach. The patterns feature a blend of bold saturated pastels fusing all of the fashion colors of the moment, like Pale Yellow, Cerulean, Green Ash, Bubblegum Pink, Amethyst Orchard, Marigold, and Burnt Coral in varying hues. Instead of a homemade vibe, the upgraded mood of this season’s Tie-Dye feels sleek and mature. The Patterns take on a more contemporary watercolor-inspired aesthetic. Tonal colors in the same family or complimentary combos is another story that designers have been featuring. This is a super modern way of mixing prints. Even in denim, this look is super smooth. You can even combine it with a Tie-Dyed top in another fabric to rock the look from head to toe !!! A thing that would have been a definite no-no in seasons past.
The Zara 2021 collection definitely nailed this trend by featuring different versions of the look in a variety of color statements. Many of the pieces also capture the sleek contemporary aesthetic by offering Tie-Dye pieces in silhouettes that are unexpected, like slip midi dresses in tye-dyed satin, or button-up satin blouses with a tie-dyed watercolor effect. There were also flowy tops featured in cotton fabric with tonal color palettes and where the print took on a more cloud-like effect. This pattern definitely captures this season’s tribute to nature and serenity, another trend designated by Pantone this season. Another one of my personal favorites from the collection is the tie-dyed crop-in mint green featured with the Marigold midi -skirt pictured below. What I love about this look is that it incorporates two very strong 2021 color statements and styling trends. Crop Tops and Midi-Skirts are the Hottest Silhouettes of the Season !!! This is definitely a new way of styling Tie-Dye and one that I will definitely be rocking all summer !!!
